If your goal is to gain the customer's trust and make a good impression on a future client, then you need to speak in an understandable manner that is not overly technical. It is also important to ensure that your resume, sample essays, or application packages contain all of the most relevant information in the right places. However, what will truly convey the desire to provide customer service and make a good impression on the reader? Sexism in A Thousand Splendid Suns Essay Example
Sexism in A Thousand Splendid Suns Essay A major theme throughout the novel is sexism and the ideology that men possess complete control over their wives (helped further by the Taliban). A few days after living with Ransheed, Mariam is required to wear a burka as where he comes from a womens face is her husbands business only. This statement objectifies women, likening them to possessions without personality or any individuality. If not for the tone, it could be said that Ransheed wants to free his wife from unwanted glances and snide remarks of another men, that might make her feel uncomfortable. However, no affection or protectiveness is expressed, the burka is simply for his benefit; a way to maintain his pride. The quotation links closely to The Handmaids Tale the handmaids dress code consists of an ankle-length, full, gathered to a flat yoke that extends over the breast and white wings which keep them from seeing but also from being seen showing extreme of objectification. The idea that women can be so indoctrinated indicates they are viewed as not having a mind of their own, free to make their choices, almost like animals (not possessing a higher order of thinking). Ransheed also expresses his distaste when he mentions women come uncoveredlook me in the eye without shame claiming how it embarrasses him to see a man whos lost control of his wife Women are seen as an extension of the husband and if they act inappropriately husbands only care about what it reflects upon them. Women are treated as sub-human, inferior to man, who should dominate; enabling them to mould women as they wish until they become a voiceless being (never expressing their true character), whose purpose is to serve them only. Leading on from this, Ransheed could be said to be struggling for his identity as he feels pressured by society to have a wife that shows utter respect and obedience. Without, he would be classed as weak, thus a nobody. Society norms alone have huge influence o n the struggle for identity. Laila names it as methodical, familiar proceedingno cursing, no screamingonly the systematic business of beating and being beatenthump thump the women have no option to accept the abuse (their punishment) as part of the daily routine. The fact women have no power to stop the atrocity, places them as forever vulnerable and powerless. Not being able to stand up for themselves, leads to a reduced version, thus the struggle for identity continues. Ironically, both men behave in ways that are ethically shameful. To protect their names in order to meet their own ideas of social expectations, they neglect or even abuse their offspring and wives, sacrificing the welfare of those around them in order to save face. Influence of War When Mariam finds a flyer, expressing the new regulations the Taliban are implementing. There is one section devoted entirely to women Attention women, as though they need extra ruling. The rules are written as a list, which highlights the extent to which women are being controlled; there is literally no way for them to escape. Some of the include You will not speak unless spoken to and You will not laugh in public and have to be accompanied by a male relatives. The Taliban completely removes their independence, allowing them to be dominated and treated as sub-humans (their identity gone). The nicest consequence for violation of the rules is being severely beaten. The fact this is written publically, shows societys treatment attitude towards women; they are worthless, undeserving of equality. This was all meant to safeguard their honour, but in fact it was a way to control society, inducing too much fear for there to be ever a chance of rebellion. Language Techniques * Short clipped sentences convey a tone that it is very matter of fact. This illustrates how the treatment of women by men is the norm, completely unsurprising. This highlights the struggle for identity as both women and men alike have become so indoctrinated by society ideology, they no longer act as they would do normally. * Use of questions, Do you understand? is almost like a parent would talk to a child, reflecting how men are placed as superior. Women are not given the courtesy of being thought of having a mind of their own. Other Links * The Colour Purple Ceclie is beaten by her husband as it is the norm. She is beaten for being not good enough but in truth he uses her as a way to release his frustration and anger.

Starship Trooper essays
Starship Trooper essays The film which I will present my Close Textual Analysis will be Paul Verhoevens 1997 sci-fi Starship Troopers. The sequence which I will focus most of my analysis on is the opening sequence of the film. The beginning point of this sequence is shown by the Federal Network advisement image, informing us that this sequence is going to be some form of news broadcast. The end point of this sequence is shown through the diegetic camera work on planet Klandathu. The camera has been knocked to the ground due to the camera operator being killed by the bugs. The camera is positioned awkwardly on the main character, Johnny Rico. Here the end point is shown by the camera becoming static and hearing Johnny Rico screaming oh god, oh god, finally the camera goes blank. We can understand that this is a complete sequence as each cut from one scene is directly relating to the previous scene. The sequence simply flows; there is also a continuous narrator who is explaining what is going on. Also the nex t sequence starts by using the blankness of the camera. Using this blankness it states one year earlier. The narrative operation that I will elaborate on will be the mise-en-scene elements of the sequence. The opening sequence of Verhoevens Starship Troopers endows the film to have a narrative image in the likeness of television serials or cinema previews. We the audience are immediately engaged with controversy. Through this type of narrative image it is evident that the audience as a whole is engaged by the enigma of the story, this is created through the diegetic camera work on planet Klandathu that reveals the main character Johnny Rico. Yet he is presented to us as being killed in action. However time manipulation is seen to create an audience cheat here due to the flash forward showing that Johnny Rico in fact survived the attack. The way in which Verhoeven grabs the audience&...

The Customer Service Perspective - Essay Example The SMEs hardly keep in align to these policy and it becomes difficult in applying the balance scorecard technique. But in larger enterprises it is not that difficult. There is larger number of employees, customers are well defined and they have a strong financial stability. Hyde Park Electronics focused upon one product category that provides the maximum of 80% of the sales. This companyââ¬â¢s financial position is strong enough but from the point of view of BSC, the focus was only for short term and the company was required to develop strategy for the longer term purpose. Futura Industries is dealing with the high end niche variety of market. Southern Gardens Citrus is the subsidiary company of United States Sugar Corporation and competes in a consolidated market for not-from-concentrate (NFC) orange juice. The company was financially strong as it had a strong customer base. The sales were huge from the single product category. The BSC tool provided the opportunity for the company to grow. Apart from this perspective, the company focused upon learning and growing with quality and other issues for long run benefit (Robert, 2006). The company focused upon the retention of the talents to help growing in future. There were turnovers, more so a culture was developed and BSC provided the learning and growing technique to be better in achieving the objectives. As per the study of the three companies it seems that they have focused it basically upon customer. Looking at the Hyde Park Electronics and Southern Gardens Citrus it basically focused keeping the customer in the core. The application of BSC in the companies helped in maintaining the objectives and mission of the company. The overall performance of the companies has enhanced in different aspects. Reflected Summery Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Reflected Summery - Essay Example vities that occur within the organizational environment, models like McKinsey 7-S help to secure better methodology for many different university activities. These include marketing, employee relationship development, training, and developing better core competencies to give the university more enrollment and better brand presence. Consultation with literature regarding risk management identified that many for-profit businesses struggle with identifying risks proactively. However, models like the McKinsey 7-S model provide opportunities to expand beyond just the internal structural and operational environments and view the impact of activities on the outside world. At the same time, it helps to understand what forces pull or push new decision-making when considering external forces, such as customers, partnerships with external consultants, and building relationships with outside stakeholders. These understandings are vital for universities that are always in a constant state of change and for one like Heriot that is looking for new methods to stay competitive and meet student needs effectively. The core competency of culture is another important identity for Heriot since it is necessary to gain inter-organizational support to meet the objective of a more future-focused and student-centered philosophy. The attitudes, values and activities of staff, administration and students, as well as external partners, require a variety of cohesive strategies to ensure that the entire organization is aligned to meeting tomorrowââ¬â¢s goals. There is so much of strategy involved in university operations, upon reflection, based on the mission and vision of a change objective and trying to project where the organization might be five or even 10 years into the future. The Focus on the Future project provided knowledge about the long-term consequences of improper change, inability to gain cultural support from within, and putting too much reliance on the expertise of outside

Hockey Cross Country Comparison Essay Example for Free
Hockey Cross Country Comparison Essay Hockey and Cross country are two completely different sports in many aspects for example one is played on ice and is very physical and the other you are running on dry ground and all you do is run. But in many aspects these two sports have more in common than most people would think. These two sports in some aspects are polar opposes but having played them both I can say they are very similar. First off they both require extremely high levels of physical endurance and strength. Hockey requires you to have physical strength, quickness, and hand eye coordination. As cross country requires physical strength as well, but it also requires you to put your mind over your body, this means that no matter what kind of physical pain you may be in you have to block out the pain and keep running. Now most people think that cross country is not a team sport and only individuals run cross country right? Well they are very wrong cross country is just as much of a team sport as hockey. In cross country you rely on your team mates to place well in their race to score points just as a hockey player would in hockey. Both hockey and cross country require immense amounts of training. Hockey you have to train your hand eye coordination as well as having good vision and being physically strong. Cross country you must train your endurance you must have massive amounts of stamina as well as mental strength. Cross country you need a strong core and legs and stamina, but hockey requires you to be strong in every muscle group. Hockey is a physical sport that requires you to be able to block out pain after a big hit or a player takes a puck where they donââ¬â¢t have any padding.

Love Canal :: essays research papers fc
The Love Canal is located near Niagara Falls in upstate New York. The Canal was constructed as a waterway during the nineteenth century, but was abandoned shortly afterwards. The Love Canal story is essentially the story of the thousands of families who lived unknowingly amongst an abandoned toxic chemical waste dump. It wasnââ¬â¢t the first time in U.S history where this has happened, nor was it the worst, but it did grab the publicââ¬â¢s attention. In the 1930ââ¬â¢s before the Love Canal area was turned into neighborhoods, the Hooker Chemical Company purchased the area and used it as a burial site for 20,000 metric tons of chemicals. In 1953 the Hooker Chemical Company sold the land to the Niagara Falls Board of Education for $1.00. There was a stipulation in the deed, which stated that if anyone incurred physical harm or death because of their buried wastes, they would not be responsible. Shortly after, the land changed hands yet again and this time home building began directly adjacent to the canal. Families who bought homes here were unaware of the waste buried in their backyards. With all the new homes in the area, an elementary school was opened near the corner of the canal in 1955. Soon after the opening, students and teachers began complaining of being burnt, nauseous odors, and black sludge (Gibbs 21). It wasnââ¬â¢t till nearly thirty years later that the government finally decided to investigate the complaints. à à à à à Hooker admits to burying about 21,800 tons of various chemicals in the canal. There are at least twelve known carcinogens in the canal including benzene which is well-known for causing leukemia in people (Gibbs 22). The air, soil, and water tests have found chemical migration throughout a ten block residential area. The extent of the chemical migration is still unknown. The health effects due to the toxic waste dump are numerous and fatal. There was a high incidence of miscarriages and birth defects in children in the 239 families that lived here. The incident rate was so high that in 1978 New York State of Health issued a ââ¬Å"recommended temporary relocation of ALL pregnant women and children under twoâ⬠(Gibbs 22). In May of 1980 President Carter declared a health emergency because of the abnormal amounts of chromosomal breakage in the Love Canal residents. In October of the same year the President signed a bill to evacuate all families permanently from Love Canal.
